"Youth for the Future" is a timely and appropriate initiative for the Commonwealth, especially for developing nation members such as Papua New Guinea. Fulfilling the potential of youth, by exploiting their own knowledge and energy to help themselves and each-other, will provide Commonwealth members with a strong foundation on which to continue their progress as nations and to foster individual human development.

Papua New Guinea believes the emphasis of the initiative on reducing poverty and the transfer of new technologies and knowledge through the development of youth enterprise, volunteering, mentoring and scholarships will give our youth the civic leadership, employment and income-generation tools they need.
