YOUTH FOR THE FUTURE
Support Statement

 

The Government of the Republic of Kiribati welcomes and fully supports the Commonwealth Youth for the Future Progamme, recognizing the importance of the young people in the development and future direction of their own societies and the Commonwealth at large.

The Kiribati Government perceives the youth programme as a necessity for a better future and wishes to congratulate the Commonwealth for its significant initiative that takes place at this most appropriate time at the beginning of the 21st Century and also at the time when the values and principles of our Commonwealth are being put on trial by the challenges evolving from modern forces of change.

The Kiribati Government looks forward to participating in the programme, and in working closely with the Commonwealth in the promotion of youth activities in the areas of Sport, HIV/AIDS awareness, employment-generation programmes and Leadership and Community Skills development.
