Canada welcomes the renewed Commonwealth commitment to its youth who represent the future of the organization and bring creativity, enthusiasm and dynamism to its work.

                 Canada remains a firm supporter of the Commonwealth Youth Programme, which has promoted youth empowerment across member countries since 1973, and welcomes the new Youth for the Future Initiative. We look forward to this new programme supporting youth enterprise development and thus strengthening Commonwealth members' ability to address poverty reduction and to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
