Indigenous Art at CHOGM
Local Sunshine Coast artist, Arthur Conlon, will be profiled at
the planned Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in
Coolum. His work will be on display to visiting dignitaries and
the media over the course of the meeting.
Arthur, the principal of Mundai Art, was chosen because of his
extensive work on the Sunshine Coast, teaching local school children
painting techniques and incorporating their work in to the murals
that are seen at many of the schools in the region.
The artist will design and paint an Indigenous mural that is representative
of the local environment. The mural will be outside the Media Centre,
which will be home to over 800 national and international media
over the four day meeting.
Arthur's handpainted card has been chosen as a gift, to be included
in the official satchels for accredited media.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to profile local talent"
Australian CHOGM Spokesperson, Andrew Reynolds said.
"The mural will provide an impressive backdrop for interviews
and photographs that will be distributed worldwide." He said
The work will take approximately two weeks to complete.
