We have a great many celebrations
In our wonderful Commonwealth of Nations
From the Games where we display our might
To the CHOGM meetings which put things right

There are many hues in the colour of our skin
And different things that we all believe in
But our shared hopes and our wondrous schemes
Make this a Commonwealth of Dreams.

Though our cultures are somewhat diverse
And we come from all parts of the Universe
For human dignity we'll constantly strive
And we'll work to keep starving children alive

From the Carribean Islands out in the sea
To the United Kingdom and the island of Fiji
We'll plan for freedom of religion and rule
Compassion and friendship will be our tool.

So from Australia out to the Seychelles
We'll keep ringing those freedom bells
From Sri Lanka to Vanuatu
We'll make the world safer for me and for you

So all join hands and work in harmony
To make this world a better place to be.
The Commonwealth of Nations can be strong
If all the people in it try to get along.
